POKOTABI / Yakiniku Saikaen
焼肉 「彩花園」
Tucked into Minamikoiwa, Yakiniku Saikaen serves tender jo-kalbi, skirt steak, salted tongue, offal cuts, salted pork belly, and seafood pancakes in an easygoing, relaxed setting.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Tucked away along an alley in Minamikoiwa, Yakiniku Saikaen provides an unhurried, comfortable dining room where guests can focus on grilling quality cuts over dinner. With regular table seating throughout, it has become a dependable neighbourhood choice for relaxed evening meals.
A natural place to start the table is with the tender jo-kalbi (premium boneless short rib), harami (skirt steak), and the classic salted beef tongue. Beyond the sweet, melting marbling of kalbi and loin, the beef selection extends to limited wagyu skirt steak, geta kalbi (intercostal rib fingers), and bone-in kalbi. The grill selection is equally generous across offal and pork, featuring textured cuts like horumon, jo-mino (first stomach), tecchan (large intestine), and kobukuro (uterus), alongside aromatic salted pork belly and bone-in pork ribs.
A variety of Korean dishes complements the sizzling meats. Crisp, fragrant pancakes make an appetite-whetting partner for house dipping sauces, ranging from seafood chijimi to kimchi, potato, and spring onion variations. Guests often linger over drinks and beer alongside bites of changja or boiled pork trotters, or wrap freshly grilled cuts in sanchu lettuce and sunny lettuce salad for a refreshing finish.
To conclude the meal, rich soups warm and settle the palate, from deep-flavoured kalbi soup and spicy daegutang to nourishing gomtang broth. With ample seating well suited to families and groups, booking ahead ensures an effortless, comfortable night out.
